Matters of the Heart

I wrote this poem 2 years ago...It helped me to get through a lot.

Matters of the heart
A heart full of love
Luminous in the dark of day
Yearning for balance in the midst of pain
First kiss
First love
First date
First hug
First part of matters of the heart
Rose-colored glasses soon fade
All lies come from the shade
Deception, pain, sorrow engulfs love's burning flame
Leaving the ashes so black and gray
Reality sets in, light begins to emerge
Wind picks up and ashes soon catch flight
Waiting for the spark so that it may ignite
Who can keep this flame burning bright?
Next part of matters of the heart
Love feels that the wick is almost out
Yet God pours out his blessings
Giving hope, faith, and belief that without a "shadow" of a doubt that this is his plan for me
Realization that true love begins with me
More light embracing
Another part of matters of the heart
The fiery flame burning bright with intensity
Found its niche, so lovely and daring
Uncontrollable burning desire called real love
No longer involved in the pain it once was
Now a torch of continuous light, never burning out with God by its side
So much more to learn in life's lessons
Another one of God's many blessings.

My very first post to my blog. I'm excited to share my thoughts with everyone. So many things go through my mind, and to be able to write, well type, it all down is a blessing. First, let me start off by saying that I tend to have two sides. I can be soft...I can be edgy. Light words but dark demeanor at times. My negative feelings become positive thoughts. There is a minute or second that goes by that I am not thinking, analyzing, observing...IT'S MY NATURE! I love words, poetry, music, and God. It's funny how as kids, we learn basic words to express how we feel and as we become older, the human vocabulary is surmounts to thousand upon thousands of words. Of course anyone who loves words, loves written work. For me that is--poetry. I have been writing since I was seven years old. It started off with short stories that I would write and illustrate. Eventually, it became poems. Today, I opened an old journal of poems I wrote and realized that the topics were way ahead of my time, for my age for that matter. Wisdom is something that comes easy to me...Not to say I am more intelligent than some, yet I constantly philosophize in my head. Believe it or not...those who are in constant thought are on a whole other level of thinking. It irks my brain but then again it gives meaning to why I am who I am.
God is number one, my foundation.
I am a family person, my family is like the pillars of my being...I think I have a lil bit of everyone in my family in me.
My friends are my circle. It's a small circle but that only makes the bond stronger.
I love to sing! I sing everyday...to myself...lol. But really...I can sing. I'll let you be the judge one day.
I love and I mean LOVE music! I could not think or have peace of mind without it.
